Diagnosis: Pain!

I've noticed a rash on my stomach that has progressively been getting worse over the last week. I assumed it was a group of spider bites, but they haven't gotten any better. So off to the doctor and he tells me I have shingles! I'm old! Nothing to do but wait it out - maybe another week of exquisite discomfort.

Then he goes on to tell me that I have quadriceps tendinitis. Just when I'm showing real progress in my low stances! What are the odds?

Welcome to the tendonitis group!! It's no fun. Remember to listen to your doctor and REST!!
Also, be really careful about the shingles--you don't want to mess with that!

The crappy thing about shingles is that they itch and ache all the time and there is nothing to do about it!

Shingles is a terrible thing. My 88 year old dad got shingles in the middle of last year and it damn near killed him. he's better now but it was tough for 6-8 months.

What did he tell you to do about the tendonitis?

Tendonitis in the quad???

wow. How do you heal that?

I'm supposed to ease off on activity that would exacerbate the pain. Roughly speaking, no weight bearing beyond my self, no kicking, no low stances (the doc took TKD)and basically babying it for two to three weeks.

I'm supposed to ice it three times a day ( I can do it once) and take ibuprofen three times a day.

Weee.

I guess it's tear in the quad near the top of the knee and it hasn't healed because of my general activity level.

Sucks!
Look into that pineapple juice. It's good stuff. (it'll help with pain. Trust me)

Hope you heal well.
